Poor start for Galatasaray in the Champions League: 5-goal defeat

In the first week of the league phase of the UEFA Champions League, our representative Galatasaray faced German side Eintracht Frankfurt away from home.

In the match played at Frankfurt Stadium, Galatasaray was defeated 5-1 by Frankfurt.

The German team's goals were scored by Davinson Sanchez (own goal) in the 37th minute, national player Can Uzun in the 45+2nd minute, Jonathan Burkardt in the 45+4th and 66th minutes, and Ansgar Knauff in the 75th minute.

The only goal for our representative Galatasaray came from Yunus Akgün in the 8th minute.

Failing to make the start they wanted in the Champions League, the Yellow-Reds finished the week in 35th place with 0 points after the first matches. Frankfurt, on the other hand, took 2nd place with 3 points on goal difference.

In the 2nd week of the Champions League, Galatasaray will host Liverpool at home on September 30.

Eintracht Frankfurt will be the guest of Atletico Madrid.
