Presidential race heats up at Fenerbahçe: Volleys from Hakan Safi to Mehmet Ali Aydınlar!

Ahead of the presidential elections to be held at the end of the season at Fenerbahçe, businessman Hakan Safi has definitively announced his candidacy.

Safi delivered a clear message, stating: “I am 100% a candidate. I will absolutely not withdraw even if Aziz Yıldırım becomes a candidate. No matter who it is, I am here. Do not be surprised if Mehmet Ali Aydınlar withdraws. I am very confident in myself, my team, what we will do, and that we will win. When I take and submit 10 thousand signatures, everyone will see this anyway.”

Hakan Safi stated that his management team is largely ready, adding: “80% of my management is ready. We will announce them all when the time and place are right. The election decision was just announced. I built one of the largest ports in the world. We will rebuild our stadium where it stands... We will increase its capacity and the number of luxury boxes,” he said, outlining his projects.

Safi emphasized that his candidacy is not just about competing against individuals, but that he has set major goals for the club.

His remarks regarding the potential candidacy of former presidents such as Aziz Yıldırım or Mehmet Ali Aydınlar drew attention. Safi stated that he would not withdraw from the race against potential candidates and that competition is a sign of democracy within the club.

Safi also recalled his own financial contributions during his tenure and criticized current and former executives:

“I gave $50 million in 15 months without any sponsorship or service in return. Mr. Mehmet Ali should first pay the €45 million he promised back then—which would be €100 million at today's exchange rate. Then, he should donate $50 million just as I did. Let's start the race at 2-2 first... On July 3, Galatasaray supporters harmed us. Mehmet Ali Aydınlar was with them at that time. We will not do business with Galatasaray supporters. We are coming with all our might to fight Galatasaray financially and morally... Whether it is the TFF, Ankara, or abroad... No one should have any doubts about our relationships of any kind. We will overcome all problems... Having multiple candidates is good for democracy. I will not withdraw.”
