The prosecutor has announced their opinion in the trial of 4 defendants, including former Ankaragücü Club President Faruk Koca, who attacked referee Halil Umut Meler.

For the defendant Faruk Koca, a prison sentence of up to 13 years was requested for the crimes of 'Threat', 'Intentional injury resulting in a bone fracture', and 'Violation of the Law on the Prevention of Violence and Disorder in Sports'.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Following the MKE Ankaragücü - Çaykur Rizespor match played at Ankara Eryaman Stadium, which ended in a 1-1 draw, the capital team's then-president Faruk Koca entered the pitch and punched referee Halil Umut Meler.

Following the attack on Meler, three people, including Faruk Koca, were arrested, while Meler was taken to the hospital and the leagues were suspended for one match week.

Former AKP MP and Ankaragücü President Faruk Koca, who carried out the physical assault, was released after remaining in custody for 15 days.
