PSG announces: 55 million Euro shock for Kylian Mbappe

French star Kylian Mbappe, who did not renew his contract with his former club PSG before the 2024-2025 season and signed with the Spanish team Real Madrid, had filed a lawsuit against PSG for 55 million Euros, including unpaid wages and bonuses. The French Football Federation and the Professional Football League had previously ruled for the payment of this amount.

Following the pressure Mbappe exerted on the club to receive the payment, the club took the matter to the Paris Judicial Court, and it was stated that the requested 55 million Euros were legally canceled.

PSG IS READY TO GO TO THE CONCILIATION BOARD

According to reports in the French press, PSG stated that it is fully prepared to take the matter to the Conciliation Board if necessary, while it does not plan to pay the full amount to Mbappe. However, Paris Saint-Germain also emphasized that they are open to entering a mediation process for a solution where both parties can reach an agreement.

PSG's official statement regarding the lawsuit filed by Kylian Mbappe against the club is as follows:

"We are very pleased that the Disciplinary Committee did not penalize Paris Saint-Germain as requested by the player. The Committee has put an end to this long-running process by declaring the application inadmissible. After hearing the arguments of the parties on September 11, the 18-member Legal Committee of the Professional Football League (LFP) emphasized, in light of PSG's clear arguments, that mediation should be continuously conducted to reach a settlement between the player and Paris Saint-Germain. However, since the player completely rejected the mediation process, the Legal Committee decided to stick only to the contract he approved and to ignore other agreements between the club and the player. The issue that remains in dispute and must be examined by the Labor Court is the mutual and legal amendment of the approved contract for the 2023-2024 season in August 2023. This amendment was repeatedly confirmed by the player, especially in January 2024, but the player decided to renege on all his commitments at the end of the season. If the player continues to fail to fulfill his commitments and persists in this dispute at the Conciliation Board in a way that is difficult to understand and harmful for both himself and French football, the club is fully prepared to explain the situation in full to the relevant court. Legally and in reality, the player has made repeated public and private commitments stating that values such as showing respect for the club and the fans during the 7 years he benefited from the club are more important."
