Quarter-finalists determined at Kırkpınar

The third-round matches in the head wrestler category have concluded at the 664th Historical Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling, currently underway in Edirne. The 8 head wrestlers who defeated their opponents in the bouts held at the Sarayiçi Er Meydanı have advanced to the quarter-finals.

Before the third round, the head wrestlers drew lots to determine their pairings. The wrestlers performed their traditional pre-match walk (peşrev) before engaging in fierce competition. The most anticipated match of the day took place between the last two-time head wrestler Yusuf Can Zeybek and Mustafa Taş, whom he faced in last year's final. The match, which saw no winner in regular time, moved to the scoring period. In the 34th minute, Yusuf Can Zeybek launched a counter-attack, scoring the point needed to defeat his opponent and advance to the next round.

In another notable match, Ali Gürbüz faced off against Feyzullah Aktürk. In a bout that lasted approximately 75 minutes and maintained a low tempo, Aktürk emerged victorious after scoring in the final section.

With these results, Yusuf Can Zeybek, Feyzullah Aktürk, İsmail Koç, Erkan Taş, İsmail Balaban, Orhan Okulu, Enes Doğan, and Ali İhsan Batmaz became the head wrestlers to advance to the quarter-finals.
