Galatasaray's new signing Rafael Leao explained his goals for the new season in statements made to the yellow-red club's YouTube channel. The Portuguese footballer stated that Galatasaray wants to achieve a historic success in the league, noting that their primary goal is a fifth consecutive championship.
Leao expressed that he knew Galatasaray well even before his transfer. Emphasizing that important stars have played for the yellow-red club in the past, Leao mentioned that names like Didier Drogba, Gheorghe Hagi, and Wesley Sneijder left their mark on the club's history.
''I always knew about Galatasaray. It is a big club. Great legends played here. Names like Drogba, Hagi, Sneijder... They changed the culture of the club.''
In his assessment regarding the Champions League, the Portuguese star also stated that he believes Galatasaray is at a level where it can compete with Europe's big teams.
At Galatasaray, which has won four consecutive championships in the Süper Lig, Leao has raised the bar for the new season. Saying, "I think no team has ever been champion 5 times in a row before," Leao used the phrase "This is our main target" for this goal.
Leao also touched upon the partnership he will build on the pitch with his teammate Victor Osimhen. Making an ambitious claim regarding the Nigerian striker, the footballer said, "I want to provide 100 assists to Osimhen this season."
