In the 3rd week of La Liga, Real Madrid faced Mallorca at the Santiago Bernabeu. National footballer Arda Güler continues to be one of the indispensable names for head coach Xabi Alonso. Arda started in the starting eleven against Mallorca as well. The visiting team took a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute of the match.
In the 18th minute, Vedat Muriqi sent the ball into the net with a header from a corner kick taken by Pablo Torre. Following this goal, Real Madrid increased the pressure on the opponent's goal, and the equalizer came in the 37th minute. After a short corner kick taken from the right, Hujisen headed the ball down at the far post, and Arda Güler made a header in front of the goal to find the back of the net. Seconds after this goal, Vinicius Junior, who met the ball in the midfield, advanced rapidly into the opponent's penalty area and put his team ahead with a shot after dribbling past his defender.
In the 55th minute of the match, which ended 2-1 in the first half, Arda scored another goal after following the play well in the penalty area. Following a VAR warning, referee Jose Mara Sanchez went to the sideline to review the position. The goal was disallowed because the ball, which the defense wanted to clear before the goal, hit Arda Güler's arm.
No other goals were scored in the remaining part, and the match ended with a 2-1 victory for the Whites. With this result, Real Madrid reached 9 points in 3 matches. Mallorca remained at 1 point.
Real Madrid will be the guest of Real Sociedad after the international break.
