In the 10th minute of the match, officiated by Brazilian referee Abatti, Gonzalo sent the ball into the net following an assist from Arda Güler, putting Real Madrid 1-0 ahead. With a goal from Fran Garcia in the 20th minute, the Spanish team went into the locker room with a 2-0 lead.
While Beier reduced the deficit to 1 for Dortmund in the 90+3rd minute, Mbappe scored with a stylish volley in the 90+4th minute, again from an assist by Arda, bringing the score to 3-1. With Guirassy's penalty goal in the 90+8th minute, the match ended with a 3-2 victory for Real Madrid.
With this result, Real Madrid advanced to the semi-finals and became the opponent of Paris Saint-Germain.
