A revolution in Ukrainian football! Referees to undergo lie detector tests

Andriy Shevchenko, the new president of the Ukrainian Association of Football, has made the decision to have referees undergo polygraph tests. As reported by NtvSpor citing The Athletic, Shevchenko stated in an interview that the lie detector will provide more information on which referees can be worked with and which cannot. It was stated that referees who fail the polygraph test will no longer be able to officiate.

FC Minaj’s former manager Volodymyr Sharan had initially objected to the idea of a lie detector last year, describing the practice as excessive.

On the other hand, former Ukrainian FIFA referee Myroslav Stupar was among those who supported the decision. Stupar emphasized that refereeing could become fairer, noting that disputes between referees and representatives of certain clubs could affect the impartiality of referees in some matches, and that it is important to state that these referees do not officiate matches involving teams with whom there are disagreements.
