Rey Manaj responds to Rıza Çalımbay

Tensions have risen at Net Global Sivasspor after the red-and-whites became the third team confirmed to be relegated following a 1-0 loss to Samsunspor in the 37th week of the Süper Lig. The team's experienced manager, Rıza Çalımbay, faced a response from striker Rey Manaj after criticizing him following the Bodrum FK match. 

Sivasspor's Albanian forward, Rey Manaj, expressed his frustration with his manager's comments in a statement on his social media account. Stating that Çalımbay ignored his own responsibilities instead of focusing on the players, Manaj said the following in his statement:

“The press statement the coach made after the Bodrum FK match really surprised me. I had never seen a coach before who did not take responsibility and looked for the fault directly in his player. Even though I have had a groin problem for two months, I did my best and fought in all the matches.”

“During this process, I played with anti-inflammatory medication so as not to leave my team alone. However, unfortunately, while sometimes a coach needs to put his ego aside, our coach always put his own ego ahead of the team. This was reflected in the results.”

WHAT DID ÇALIMBAY SAY?

Rıza Çalımbay had openly criticized Rey Manaj's performance after the 1-0 loss to Bodrum FK. The experienced manager stated that they were struggling with an insufficient squad and used the following expressions:

''We don't have such an adequate squad. We are trying to play whoever is available. We took risks to win the match; we put every attacking player we had on the pitch. Rey Manaj also needs to show a little more effort. The people of Sivas adore him, they say he is a 'good player.' Then he will play on the pitch. He didn't have a single position; why should I keep a player who has no position in the game? He was having a bad day, which is why we took him out of the game.”
