Robin van Persie's response to Mourinho was swift
Feyenoord manager Robin van Persie stated that after their victory against Fenerbahçe, they will continue their preparations for the return leg in Kadıköy.
Feyenoord manager Robin van Persie, who defeated Fenerbahçe 2-1 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round, made significant remarks at the post-match press conference. The Dutch manager pointed out the difficulty of the atmosphere in Kadıköy and stated that they would prepare his players for this environment.
Van Persie also responded to Jose Mourinho's words, "Welcome to Istanbul, to Kadıköy, to hell." He said, "I have played in many matches in Kadıköy, and I know how impressive the atmosphere there is. However, we have a similar ambiance in our stadium as well. We will not shy away from such matches."
Stating that he was pleased with the performance they displayed in the first half of the match, Van Persie said, "We played very well in the first half and deserved to score more goals. My players took the field with great energy." He noted that they struggled to escape Fenerbahçe's pressure in the second half and that their energy levels dropped.
Evaluating their chances of advancing, Van Persie said, "Everything depends on the match in Istanbul. We have equal chances with Fenerbahçe. However, looking at today's performance, we were better, and we are happy to have won 2-1 with the goal that came in the final seconds."
