Sabalenka wins second consecutive Australian Open title!
Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka defeated Chinese player Qinwen Zheng 2-0 in the Australian Open Women's Singles final to claim her second consecutive championship.
In the Australian Open Tennis Tournament women's singles final, Aryna Sabalenka defeated her opponent Qinwen Zheng 2-0 to become the champion. The final of the tournament held in Melbourne featured the number 2 seed Sabalenka against the number 12 seed Zheng.
In a match that lasted one hour and 16 minutes, Sabalenka defeated Zheng, who was playing in her first grand slam final, with sets of 6-3 and 6-2. With this victory, Sabalenka reached the championship at the Australian Open for the second time in a row.
The Belarusian tennis player won the tournament without dropping a set, becoming the first tennis player to win back-to-back women's singles titles at the Australian Open since Victoria Azarenka, who achieved this feat in 2012 and 2013.
PALESTINIAN FLAG UNFURLED
During the final, a spectator in the stands unfurled a Palestinian flag and chanted "Free Palestine" and "Ceasefire now" slogans. There was a brief interruption in play during the chanting, but the match continued shortly after.
