Şahika Ercümen breaks Turkish record for the second time
National athlete Şahika Ercümen, competing in the Freediving World Championship, has broken the Turkish record in the bifins category, following her record in the free immersion category.
On the final day of the championship held in Kalamata, Greece, where 140 athletes from 40 countries participated, races were held in the bifins category.
National athlete Şahika Ercümen reached a depth of 92 meters in 3 minutes and 27 seconds, breaking the Turkish record. The previous record of 91 meters also belonged to Ercümen.
The national athlete also won a bronze medal with the result she achieved. Yesterday, Şahika Ercümen had also broken a Turkish record by diving to 82 meters in the free immersion category.

Expressing her happiness at breaking two Turkish records in the championship, Şahika Ercümen stated, "My feelings are indescribable. Before my dive, the dives were canceled due to weather conditions. It was quite difficult to refocus and dive. However, I tried to do my best for our country. I had no sponsor this year and could not train enough. I had health problems before the competition. I am very happy to have been able to break a record under these conditions. May this be a gift to our country."
