As the Turkish National Football Team continues its preparations for the UEFA Nations League A Group 1 match against France in Kocaeli, Salih Özcan made statements at the press conference held before the encounter.
The national player stated that they want to make a fresh start as a team following the disappointment experienced during the World Cup process. Özcan said, “There was a great disappointment at the World Cup. We were very sad. We trusted the team... The important thing is to turn a new page. Hopefully, we will take the first step tomorrow.”
Orkun Kökçü's situation also came up during the press conference. Salih Özcan noted that the injured national player had been struggling to take the field recently.
Regarding Orkun Kökçü, Özcan said, “Unfortunately, Orkun Kökçü is injured. He played through his injuries in the last few matches. He managed with pills and injections. I don't know his current status exactly.”
Evaluating his own form, Salih Özcan emphasized that he did not stop working during periods when he did not receive much playing time.
The national player stated that head coach Vincenzo Montella supported him, saying, “I trusted myself and continued to work even during the periods when I didn't get minutes. Montella stood by me during that time as well. I thank him for that.”
The National Team will face an important test against France, both in terms of their position in the group and for morale following the World Cup.
