Samsunspor fails to hold advantage against Panathinaikos
Samsunspor was defeated 2-1 by Panathinaikos in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League play-off round.
The first half of the match remained scoreless, ending in a 0-0 draw. Samsunspor started the second half quickly. In the 51st minute, Samsunspor took a 1-0 lead with a goal from Logi Tomasson.
However, the home team equalized in the 66th minute with a goal from Georgios Kyriakopoulos. Increasing their pressure after this goal, Panathinaikos secured a 2-1 lead with a goal scored by Palmer-Brown in the 74th minute.
There were no further goals in the remaining minutes, and the Greek side left the pitch with a 2-1 victory. The return leg will be played in Samsun next week.
