Samsunspor President's remarks ahead of Galatasaray match set to anger Fenerbahçe fans

Samsunspor President Yüksel Yıldırım made statements ahead of their upcoming Süper Lig match against Galatasaray.

"WE WILL BEAT GALATASARAY"

Speaking to Lider Haber TV, Yıldırım stated that they would defeat Galatasaray.

"I am saying I will go out and beat Galatasaray, but I could also lose. Fenerbahçe lost too. Did anyone say anything? Did anyone say Fener threw the match? No matter what I do tomorrow, I won't be able to make one side happy. I am the president of Samsunspor. I am second in the league, and at worst, I want to remain second."

"THEY LOST TO KIDS"

Yıldırım also addressed Fenerbahçe's 3-1 loss to AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Europa League.

Stating, "They lost to kids in Europe," Yıldırım continued:

"In Europe, 18-21 year olds aren't considered kids, but they are in Turkey. They don't take care of themselves. Fenerbahçe isn't asking how to get their trajectory back on track. They made promises to their fans at the beginning of the season, and the fans want that. If they keep their promises, they will be heroes; if they can't, they will be something else. That is not my business. What Ali Koç said is on record. They are pressuring us to fulfill those words, saying 'Beat Galatasaray!', but I will not lose to Galatasaray. Galatasaray might come out and crush us, but I will take the pitch to earn points."

SAMSUNSPOR IS SECOND IN THE LEAGUE

Samsunspor, which began the Süper Lig season under a transfer ban, has won 8 of the 11 matches it has played. The red-and-whites, who drew with Fenerbahçe, lost to Beşiktaş. Samsunspor's other defeat came against Konyaspor.

The Black Sea representative currently stands as the team with the third-most goals scored in the league, behind Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe, and the team with the third-fewest goals conceded, also behind those two clubs.
