Saran Holding issues statement on broadcasting tender! 'It is a cover for continuing with the current broadcaster'
Saran Holding has released a very harsh written statement regarding the broadcasting tender that the Turkish Football Federation announced was cancelled, stating, "Our group will no longer accept being a prop in this tender theater."
Saran Holding has issued a statement regarding the broadcasting tender that the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) announced had been cancelled.
The statement from Saran Holding included the following remarks:
We have received the result of the TFF Süper Lig and 1st League Broadcasting Rights Tender, which the public has been following closely, with great sadness and astonishment.
A broadcasting rights tender that is fair, competitive, and in line with the public conscience could unfortunately not be realized, just as it was two years ago.
First of all, we would like to state that in a face-to-face meeting held with the TFF Tender Commission, it was clearly declared to us that the current broadcasting organization had been disqualified from the tender. Therefore, the "cancellation" that took place today is, as it has been before, a cover for continuing with the current broadcaster that has held Turkish football captive.
It is understood from the statement made by the TFF that the desire to continue with a broadcaster that has made it a habit not to submit bids in accordance with the specifications has also become a habit for the esteemed TFF management and our clubs.
We will invite the esteemed public to follow how the value of Turkish football will be affected by this decision, which is far from the law and inconsistent with the TFF's own instructions, when no domestic or foreign broadcaster shows interest in the tender three years from now due to processes that are completely contrary to competition.
On the other hand, Saran Holding will continue to invest in international sports organizations and leagues in Turkey, as it does in more than 30 countries, and will continue to maintain the broadcasting approach that sports fans deserve.
However, the public should also know for certain that our group will no longer accept being a prop in this tender theater. Saran Holding, which submitted the only bid compliant with the tender specifications and, moreover, the highest bid by a wide margin—approximately 60 million Euros above the current season—should have won this tender. After all, the logic of a tender is to reach an agreement with the company that meets the conditions and offers the highest price. Once again, we have been forced to follow this illegality in an extremely impolite manner via social media.
We would like to remind you that the TFF is an institution tasked with managing Turkish football on behalf of the public. While fulfilling this duty, it should aim only to protect the rights of the Turkish football community. We will pursue all legal avenues regarding the cancellation of this tender process, which contains clear contradictions to these principles.
Respectfully,
