Germany is hosting the 2024 European Football Championship, and the excitement continues in the group stage matches. In the second match of Group B at Euro 2024, Croatia and Albania faced off at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg. The match, which was the scene of a fierce struggle, ended 2-2.
During this match, fans of both teams chanted, 'Kill, kill, kill the Serbs' against Serbia. After these chants, which were clearly reflected on screen, the Football Association of Serbia took action.
Jovan Surbatovic, General Secretary of the Football Association of Serbia, stated, "What happened is a scandal, and we will demand sanctions from UEFA, even at the cost of not continuing in the tournament. We are sure they will be punished because they have already responded to our call for the so-called journalist from Albania to be removed from the championship."
ALBANIAN JOURNALIST HAD BEEN BANNED FROM THE TOURNAMENT
During the friendly match between Serbia and England, a journalist making the "eagle" sign, a symbol of Albania, toward the fans during a live broadcast had also drawn backlash. Arlind Sadiku, who works for the Artmotion channel, was banned from the remainder of the tournament on the grounds of "misconduct."
