Serbian goalkeeper set to replace Muslera
Following the departure of legendary goalkeeper Fernando Muslera, Galatasaray is nearing the end of its search for a new keeper. The yellow-reds have submitted an offer for 25-year-old Djordje Petrovic, whom Chelsea has deemed surplus to requirements.
Following the end of Fernando Muslera's 14-year career at Galatasaray, the question of who would take over in goal has been a subject of curiosity. The yellow-red management is preparing to fill this void with Chelsea's Serbian goalkeeper, Djordje Petrovic.
BODRUM VISIT AND TRANSFER SIGNAL
According to a report by Sabah newspaper, it is stated that Petrovic, who was vacationing in Bodrum last week, is open to a move to Galatasaray. It is also reported that Enzo Maresca, the new manager of the English Premier League side Chelsea, does not consider the Serbian goalkeeper part of his plans.
Galatasaray has submitted an offer of 5.5 million euros to sign the 25-year-old goalkeeper on loan. The deal also includes a 15 million euro purchase option. However, Chelsea is demanding 25 million euros for Petrovic. It is suggested that negotiations between the parties are ongoing and that an agreement could be reached soon.
PERFORMANCE AND CONTRACT DETAILS
Transferred to Chelsea from the US side New England Revolution in 2023 for 16 million euros, Petrovic made 31 appearances for the blue-and-whites, conceded 44 goals, and kept 7 clean sheets. The young goalkeeper is under contract with Chelsea until 2030.
Petrovic spent last season on loan at the French Ligue 1 side Strasbourg, where he conceded 38 goals in 31 matches and kept 10 clean sheets.
