Beşiktaş defeated Çaykur Rizespor 4-1 at home in the 4th round match of the Ziraat Turkish Cup. Speaking at the press conference held after the match, Beşiktaş manager Sergen Yalçın said, "Our goal was to finish the group in first place.
As of today, we have reached our first goal. Looking at our position, the Turkish Cup is our primary target.
It is the easiest way to qualify for Europe. We are focusing on this. We have come this far well. From here on, we want to go all the way and win the cup. I hope everything goes well for us from now on," he stated.
"We are still not in the position we want"
Underlining that they had serious problems concentrating on the league at the beginning of the season, Yalçın said, "The Beşiktaş community is not used to this; it is a community accustomed to winning trophies. Then we entered a recovery process.
We made transfers during the mid-season break. We were in intensive care, now we've moved to a regular room. We are still not in the position we want, but we are making a great effort to achieve that. The boys are fighting hard. I hope that from here on, we can all bring Beşiktaş to where it belongs together. We are currently laying the foundations for this," he said.
