Shakhtar with Arda Turan defeats Beşiktaş: 6 goals in the match

Beşiktaş lost 4-2 to Shakhtar Donetsk at home in the UEFA Europa League Second Qualifying Round in their first official match of the 2025-2026 season.

In the first leg of the UEFA Europa League Second Qualifying Round, Beşiktaş fell 4-2 to Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk at Tüpraş Stadyumu. The Eagles, who suffered a defeat in their first official match of the 2025-2026 season, are now at a disadvantage ahead of the return leg to be played in Poland on Thursday, 31 July.

RASHICA BOOED

The black-and-white supporters also directed their frustration at certain players during the match. Fans' reactions were concentrated particularly on Milot Rashica.

Rashica was booed every time he touched the ball, and faced the same reception when he was substituted off.

SERGEN YALÇIN CHANTS

In the closing minutes of the match, a section of the stands at Tüpraş Stadyumu chanted in support of head coach Sergen Yalçın. Some supporters, however, reacted against those chants.

JOAO MARIO STARTS NEW SEASON WITH A GOAL

Joao Mario, who scored his team's second goal in the match in which Beşiktaş lost 4-2 to Shakhtar Donetsk at home in the UEFA Europa League Second Qualifying Round, started the 2025-2026 season with a goal. Mario also netted his 8th goal in the black-and-white shirt.

In the first leg of the UEFA Europa League Second Qualifying Round, Beşiktaş were beaten 4-2 at home by Ukrainian representatives Shakhtar Donetsk. The black-and-whites' goals came from Abraham in the 40th minute and Joao Mario in the 87th minute.

Mario, who started the new season with a goal, also registered his 8th goal in the black-and-white shirt.

The Portuguese player had finished last season with 7 goals and 4 assists in 37 appearances across all competitions.
