Following Hull City's historic achievement of reaching the Premier League this season, the club has faced an unexpected crisis due to crowd behavior during the FA Cup match played against Chelsea in February. The English Football Association (FA) has launched an investigation into the club due to discriminatory and abusive chants that took place during the match held at the MKM Stadium.

The strongest reaction to the events came from Chelsea's LGBTI+ fan group after the match. The following statements were included in the statement published on behalf of the organization:

"At the MKM Stadium, our fans were once again the target of homophobic attacks and chants. We condemn this unacceptable situation. We are aware that the Hull City club made warning announcements in the stadium, initiated an investigation with cameras, and that detention procedures were carried out. These steps taken are certainly valuable in terms of holding those responsible accountable and applying sanctions. However, it must be clearly stated that the fact that these primitive chants are still echoing in stadiums in this day and age in 2026 is an absolute disgrace for our football."
