Shock for Mert Hakan Yandaş from the PFDK
Fenerbahçe midfielder Mert Hakan Yandaş, who was recently released from prison, has been left out of the match squad after being referred to the PFDK with a precautionary measure ahead of the Beşiktaş match.
Fenerbahçe's experienced footballer Mert Hakan Yandaş had been held in custody for some time as part of a betting operation in football and had recently reunited with his team after being released on April 3. There was public curiosity about whether Yandaş would be on the pitch for the critical Beşiktaş derby to be played on April 5.
However, before it was clear whether the footballer would be included in the match squad, an important step was taken by the Professional Football Disciplinary Board (PFDK). The 31-year-old midfielder was referred to the disciplinary board with a precautionary measure due to the ongoing process regarding him. Thus, the possibility of Mert Hakan Yandaş playing in the big derby was eliminated.
This decision, taken before waiting for head coach Domenico Tedesco's squad selection, changed the plans at Fenerbahçe ahead of the match between the arch-rivals. Now, all eyes will be on the PFDK's final decision regarding Yandaş.
