Shocking claim from former referee: He explains the nepotism cycle in the MHK

Former Süper Lig referee Deniz Ateş Bitnel has made statements that have dropped like a bombshell regarding the Turkish refereeing system. 

Appearing as a guest on a YouTube channel called GalaStaff, Bitnel claimed that the Central Referee Board (MHK) provides questions to certain referees in advance to ensure they succeed in examinations.

HE EXPOSED THE NEPOTISM

Bitnel stated that the MHK has negatively impacted the refereeing community by establishing a system of nepotism in exams. "The current referees are very inadequate. The reason for this is the nepotism system established by the MHK. In a message I received today, it was written that the MHK provides questions to its own referees in advance so they can succeed in exams. I even have documentation of this," he said.

'THOSE WHO DESERVE IT ARE LEFT IN THE BACKGROUND'

Emphasizing that there is a serious inequality in the refereeing community, Bitnel said, "There are names in the refereeing community who truly do their jobs well and are waiting for matches. However, those with connections are brought to the forefront. With such a system, refereeing will not improve in the short term."

'LACK OF SELF-CONFIDENCE IS A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM'

Stating that another reason for the referees' failure is a lack of self-confidence, Bitnel said, "A serious environment of distrust has formed among referees. In this system, those who are truly successful are being eliminated. It is impossible for a referee with low self-confidence to be successful on the pitch."
