Sinner advances to Australian Open semifinals
Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner has reached the semifinals of the Australian Open. The Italian, who reached the semifinals of the tournament for the first time, will face the number 1 seed Novak Djokovic.
In the Australian Open, the first grand slam tennis tournament of the season, the number 4 seed, Italian Jannik Sinner, has advanced to the men's singles semifinals.
In the evening session on the 10th day of the tournament held in Melbourne, Sinner faced the number 5 seed, Russian Andrey Rublev, in the quarterfinals.
Sinner defeated his opponent 3-0 with sets of 6-4, 7-6, and 6-3 in a match that lasted 2 hours and 39 minutes, reaching the semifinals of the tournament for the first time.
In the semifinals, Sinner will face the number 1 seed, Serbian Novak Djokovic, who is aiming for the 11th Australian Open title of his career.
The two players met in the Wimbledon semifinals last year, where Djokovic emerged victorious with a 3-0 win.
