Stage 6 of the Presidential Cycling Tour completed

The 59th Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey Stage 6 has been completed.

Starting in the Kuşadası district of Aydın, the challenging 160-kilometer stage concluded at the Manisa Spil Mountain National Park. The stage began at 11:56 AM with 153 athletes pedaling off from the Kuşadası Marina area; Danny van Poppel from the Bora-Hansgrohe team and Matyas Kopecky from the Novo Nordisk team were disqualified for failing to sign in.

Immediately after the start, two Astana athletes broke away. They opened a gap of 20 seconds, then 25 seconds. The peloton caught them before they had even covered 5 kilometers. At the 21st kilometer, the same Astana athletes, Davide Ballerini and Nicolas Vinokurov, attempted another attack, but the peloton caught them again. The 25th kilometer of the stage was passed, and the cyclists began approaching the sprint prime gate.

The queen stage was won by Frank van den Broek of the DSM-Firmenich team with a time of 4 hours 09 minutes and 59 seconds, who also rose to first place in the General Individual Classification and claimed the Turquoise Jersey. Manisa Governor Enver Ünlü presented Broek with his gift and medal.

The Turquoise Jersey, awarded to the leader of the general classification, was secured by Frank van den Broek of the DSM-Firmenich team. The Belgian athlete was presented with his jersey by the President of the Turkish Cycling Federation, Emin Müftüoğlu.

The Green Jersey, awarded to the leader of the points classification, was secured by Giovanni Lonardi of the Polti Kometa team. The athlete was presented with his jersey by the Manisa Provincial Director of Youth and Sports, Yunus Öztürk.

The Turkish Airlines Red Jersey, awarded to the leader of the King of the Mountains classification, was won by Vinzent Dorn of the Bike Aid team. The athlete was presented with his jersey by the Manisa Provincial Gendarmerie Commander, Brigadier General Zafer Tombul.

The White Jersey, awarded to the leader of the Beauties of Turkey classification, was secured by Vinzent Dorn of the Bike Aid team. The athlete was presented with his jersey by the Manisa District Governor, Fatih Genel.

Following the gift and medal presentations, the top-ranking athletes joined the Manisa protocol to toss Manisa Mesir Paste—prepared using traditional methods and traditionally scattered from the domes and minarets of the Manisa Sultan Mosque every year—to the athletes and participants.

In the 59th Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey, the seventh stage tomorrow will be the 125.4-kilometer İzmir (Çeşme) - İzmir stage.
