Star basketball player decides to retire: 'I'm old now'
Spanish basketball player Rudy Fernandez has announced that he will retire at the end of the season. Fernandez stated that he will conclude his career after playing in league and EuroLeague matches, followed by one final stint with the national team.
Real Madrid star Rudy Fernandez has made the decision to retire.
Fernandez announced during a press conference ahead of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague match against Baskonia that he will step away from basketball at the end of the season.
In his statement, the Spanish player said, "I'm old now. It's time to think about things outside of basketball. I want to enjoy the remaining months. Retirement is a difficult word. I want to realize the dream of the Olympics."
RUDY FERNANDEZ'S CAREER
Starting his basketball career at Joventut, Rudy Fernandez stepped into the NBA with Portland in 2008.
Fernandez, who also played for the Denver Nuggets in the NBA, has been wearing the Real Madrid jersey since 2012.
Throughout his career, Rudy Fernandez has won championships in the EuroLeague (3), EuroCup, EuroChallenge, World Cup (2), and EuroBasket (4).
