Statement from Atletico Mineiro on Lucas Torreira transfer: 'We reached an agreement with him, but...'

Sporting director Paulo Bracks shared the details of the negotiations held with the Uruguayan footballer with the public.

In his statement regarding Torreira's transfer, Bracks noted that the talks with the player went positively and that the two parties reached an agreement. However, he stated that the ongoing contract with Galatasaray was the biggest obstacle to the transfer.

Stating that they offered proposals for Torreira that would allow him to be closer to his home country and national team, Bracks noted that the project was appealing to the player, but his position at Galatasaray made this transfer almost impossible. The sporting director said, “A project was presented to Torreira that would allow him to be closer to his country, his hometown, and the national team, but this transfer was very difficult. Since he is a very high-level player at his club, unfortunately, we could not realize his transfer.”

Lucas Torreira, who has played in 31 matches for Galatasaray this season, has contributed 2 goals and 3 assists. The Uruguayan footballer's current market value is listed at 12 million Euros, and his contract with Galatasaray runs until 2028.
