Statement from Fenerbahçe: 'We took the field to defend the truth'

Galatasaray and Fenerbahçefaced off in the 2023 Super Cup final, during which Fenerbahçe withdrew from the pitch.

In the 1st minute of the match, Mauro IcardiGalatasaray took a 1-0 lead with a goal scored by, and following the goal, the Fenerbahçe U19 players, who were on the pitch representing the A-team, withdrew from the field upon instructions from the technical staff.

Following the match, Fenerbahçe released a statement on their social media account.

On this day, when we took the field not to win, but to defend the truth, we would like to emphasize the following to summarize our stance;

“As a club that has served Turkish sports for 117 years in every branch we compete in, not just in football, that has thousands of trophies in its museum bearing the traces of sweat and labor, and that feels the national values of its country in its core with its 30 million fans, 

As the World's Largest Sports Club,

We will continue to stand tall today and in the future, just as we did yesterday.”
