Statement from the lawyer of Beşiktaş Vice President Murat Kılıç

In his statement regarding the matter, Gültekin said, "In recent days, untrue, distorted, and defamatory posts have been made on certain online news sites and social media platforms regarding Mr. Murat Kılıç, Vice President of Beşiktaş Gymnastics Club and member of the Football Committee.

My client has been known for many years in the national and international business world as a respected entrepreneur and successful executive; as a sports person devoted to the Beşiktaş community, he continues his duties with commitment to ethical values, transparency, and corporate principles.

Despite this, claims with no concrete basis have been made against my client in some media outlets; in particular, some posts made on the X (Twitter) platform have reached the level of insult and slander, aiming to damage both my client's personal reputation and his position at Beşiktaş Gymnastics Club.

Freedom of the press and expression are fundamental elements of democratic societies; however, this freedom cannot legitimize posts that violate personal rights and contain slander and defamation.

Our most fundamental expectation is that the public should only rely on accurate, impartial, and verified information, and that members of the press should act in accordance with the law and professional principles. My client, Mr. Murat Kılıç, respectfully informs the public that all legal avenues will be pursued against the relevant and responsible individuals and organizations in order to protect both his personal reputation and the corporate values of Beşiktaş Gymnastics Club," he said.
