Speaking to journalists, Yılmaz made candid remarks about his managerial experience. According to a report by Habertürk, Yılmaz said, "Being a manager is harder than being on the pitch. As a player, you are only responsible for yourself, but as a manager, you are responsible for the team. However, I love this process and I enjoy it very much."
Sharing how it feels to be rivals on the pitch with his former teammate and current Eyüpspor manager Arda Turan, Yılmaz stated, "Neither of us would even know our own father on the pitch. That's how we were raised; it's great to be rivals with an old friend. Arda is also very successful. I hope he becomes even more successful." Following his remarks, Yılmaz continued his shopping with his wife, İstem Yılmaz, and his mother, Belgin Yılmaz.
