Süheyl Batum announces candidacy for Galatasaray presidency

Galatasaray Sports Club member Süheyl Batum has announced his candidacy for the presidency in the ordinary elective general assembly to be held on May 25.

Batum, who will challenge the current president Dursun Özbek, has submitted the names of those who will serve on his board of directors to the Council of Trustees.

The names on Batum's primary and substitute lists are as follows:

"Aytuğ Sakallıoğlu, Ayşen Sarıkan Tanırcan, Aslı Makaracı Başak, Mete İkiz, Suat Sarı, Çetin Soysal, Mustafa Barış Yaşaroğlu, Murat Karaman, Rezan Epözdemir, Cüneyt Öztürk, Metin Karakaya, Cem Topuz, Hikmet Sibel Akyelken, Mehmet Şişmanoğlu, Hikmet Ozan Öğüt"

Making statements after submitting his list, Batum said, "Today, we submitted our list to the esteemed chairman of the council. We have become candidates for the Galatasaray presidency. Galatasaray is not just a sports club; it is a very important institution with its traditions, history, and value judgments. Galatasaray derives both its democracy and its enlightenment tradition from its values and the principles of Atatürk. We came here with our friends for the sake of Galatasaray's democracy. When we speak of Galatasaray's reputation, we are speaking especially for the future of Galatasaray. While bringing together very valuable friends, we were encouraged by two very important former presidents. Mr. Alp Yalman is on our list. He has joined our list as the chairman of the Disciplinary Committee. I thank him from the bottom of my heart. The second is Ünal Aysal, another of Galatasaray's very important presidents. He is also with us. If we win the election, he will continue on this path with us as the head of Sportif AŞ. He will take responsibility for the values of Galatasaray," he said.
