Sumudica era ends at Gaziantep FK! Is Çalımbay coming?

Gaziantep FK has announced that it has parted ways with 53-year-old head coach Marius Sumudica. The Süper Lig team decided to separate from the Romanian coach following a string of poor performances.

The following statement was issued by the club:

"The Board of Directors of Gaziantep Football Club met with Head Coach Marius Sumudica to discuss important matters.

As a result of the evaluation made between the parties, it was decided that parting ways would be the most appropriate course of action, given that Marius Sumudica is known for his love for the team and the city. Accordingly, the parties have mutually agreed to part ways.

We would like to thank Head Coach Marius Sumudica and his staff for their efforts and wish them success in their future careers."

Gaziantep FK had started the season with Erdal Güneş but brought in Sumudica in the 5th week. During Sumudica's second tenure, the team played 23 matches in the Süper Lig, recording 7 wins, 6 draws, and 10 losses.

Currently sitting in 18th place with 28 points, Gaziantep FK was also eliminated from the Turkish Cup in the Round of 16 by Fenerbahçe.

RIZA ÇALIMBAY RUMORS

According to information previously obtained by 12punto, it had been suggested that following these poor results, head coach Marius Sumudica would be dismissed and Rıza Çalımbay would be brought in to lead the team.
