Trabzonspor Board of Trustees Chairman Mahmut Ören has issued a statement of support for Trabzonspor Club President Ertuğrul Doğan, who was referred to the Professional Football Discipline Committee (PFDK) by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) Legal Consultancy on the grounds of "betting."
In his written statement, Ören noted that the process is being closely monitored and reminded that in his public assessments, Doğan stated that the account in question had been closed before the events took place. Emphasizing that this declaration is important, Ören stated that they believe the competent authorities will evaluate the matter with "common sense and fairness."
Ören pointed out that in the past, betting and similar structures have existed within Turkish football in various forms, established sponsorship relationships with clubs, and had their names used in football organizations. For this reason, he argued that issues brought to light from the past should not be interpreted in different ways through individuals.
Referring to Ertuğrul Doğan's words, "We will continue to speak for the interests of Trabzonspor and Turkish football. There is not a single inch of retreat," Ören noted that this statement is a clear reflection of the stance the club president has displayed to date.
Stating that they stand with Doğan as the Trabzonspor Board of Trustees, Ören said, "We clearly express to the public that we stand by our President Ertuğrul Doğan in his rightful and determined stance in protecting the rights and interests of our club."
Ören stated that Trabzonspor will follow developments in Turkish football with care and common sense, adding that the club will continue to stand by justice and the truth without becoming a party to misguided debates.
