Surprise at Galatasaray regarding Yusuf Akçiçek: It didn't happen at the last minute
Although an agreement was reached for Yusuf Akçiçek, Al Hilal's inability to sign a new center-back halted the transfer. Galatasaray has begun negotiations with Bitshiabu.
The process carried out by Galatasaray for Yusuf Akçiçek, one of their priority targets for a center-back transfer, did not conclude despite progressing positively. It was stated that the yellow-reds had reached an agreement on financial terms with the 19-year-old national footballer and his club, Al Hilal.
The primary reason for the transfer not materializing was stated to be Al Hilal's desire to add a new center-back to their squad before approving the player's departure. The Saudi Arabian team did not allow Yusuf Akçiçek to leave after they were unable to make their planned defensive reinforcement.
Following this development, Galatasaray activated their alternative plan for the defensive line. The yellow-reds brought Bitshiabu to Istanbul and announced that they have begun transfer negotiations with the player.
