Surprising words for Fenerbahçe's Kent: 'I don't know why he backed down'

Ryan Kent, who was transferred to Fenerbahçe during the summer transfer window before İsmail Kartal was even with the team, remained below expected performance levels and could not find enough playing time in the squad. The English star, who held talks with Lazio during the mid-season break, did not give the green light to the transfer. Lazio President Claudio Lotito made statements regarding this transfer. 

In an interview with the newspaper 'Il Messaggero', Lotito said the following:

"I don't know why he backed down. And I don't even care. Because I repeat, this transfer was a zero-cost opportunity. It was an extra for us. We didn't really need reinforcements. Because we still believe in the strength of this group of players, from whom we expect a lot"

On the other hand, Fenerbahçe Head Coach İsmail Kartal also answered a question about Ryan Kent following the match against Alanyaspor in Kadıköy last night, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Speaking about the performance of the English player who found playing time after a long period, Kartal commented, "Ryan Kent is our valuable player. We have also included his name on the European list. We will also submit the list to the federation for the Super Lig within 48 hours. We currently have 15 players, we will take one out. My staff and I will make the decision on this."
