Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays for the Saudi Arabian team Al Nassr, has been handed a one-match suspension due to his gesture toward fans.
In a statement from the Saudi Arabian Football Federation's Disciplinary and Ethics Committee, it was announced that Cristiano Ronaldo has been given a one-match suspension due to his gesture toward fans following Al Nassr's 3-2 away victory against Al Shabab.
Furthermore, it was reported that Ronaldo has been ordered to pay a fine of 10,000 Saudi Riyals (approximately 83,000 Turkish Lira) to the federation, and 20,000 Saudi Riyals (approximately 166,000 Turkish Lira) to the Al Shabab Club.
Ronaldo had been referred to the disciplinary committee for his gesture toward opposing fans who were chanting for the Argentine star Lionel Messi after the match.
In a statement regarding the matter, the Portuguese footballer said, "I respect all clubs. The joy of the victory was on my face after the match. It was not a shameful gesture. We are used to this in Europe."
