Sven-Göran Eriksson diagnosed with cancer
Swedish manager Sven-Göran Eriksson has announced that he has been diagnosed with cancer.
75-year-old Sven-Göran Eriksson stated in an interview with Swedish radio P1, "Everyone understands that I have an illness that is not good, and it is cancer. I have to fight it as long as I can. Maybe a year, maybe less, or maybe more."
Emphasizing the need to maintain a positive outlook on life, Eriksson said, "Do not dwell on the negatives, because that is the biggest negative of all. Look for the positive aspects of things."
Eriksson previously managed major European clubs such as Benfica, Roma, Fiorentina, Lazio, and Manchester City, and at the national level, he coached England, Mexico, Ivory Coast, and the Philippines.
Most recently, Eriksson took on the role of sporting director at the Swedish third-tier club IF Karlstad in December 2022, but stepped down from his position in February 2023 due to health issues.
