Targeting victory at Samsunspor: Bold words from Yüksel Yıldırım ahead of the Fenerbahçe match

Samsunspor President Yüksel Yıldırım shared his goals ahead of the match as his team prepares to host Fenerbahçe in the 3rd week of the Trendyol Süper Lig. Speaking to Gazete Gerçek, Yıldırım congratulated the yellow-navy team on qualifying for the Champions League while emphasizing that they want to secure points in the match in Samsun.

Stating that Fenerbahçe will take the field with high morale following their success in Europe, Yıldırım said, "Fenerbahçe made Turkey very happy on Wednesday night. They are participating in the Champions League after 18 years. Fenerbahçe may look tired, but they have incredible motivation. They will come to Samsun looking for an absolute victory."

Expressing that Samsunspor will enter the match primarily with the goal of not losing, Yıldırım said their target is not limited to that. Yıldırım stated, "Our goal is first not to lose the match, and then to take 3 points if we can. We will go into the match for absolute points. Our main goal is to beat Fenerbahçe."

President Yıldırım reminded that during his time in the Süper Lig, they have failed to secure a victory against only Fenerbahçe among the "Big Four." He said, "This is my fourth year in the Süper Lig. We have beaten all of the 4 big teams in the Süper Lig except for Fenerbahçe. We just haven't been able to beat Fenerbahçe. We want to beat Fenerbahçe this time around."

Expressing that he expects a fast-paced and competitive match despite the absences, Yıldırım noted that both teams will reflect their own style of play on the pitch. The Samsunspor President said, "It will be an interesting and beautiful match. I want the winner to be Samsunspor. We will go into the match for an absolute victory, but we say at worst let it be a draw."

Yıldırım also made a call to the fans, asking for the stadium to be full. Stating that fan support plays an important role in Samsunspor's success at home, Yıldırım said, "We have won most of our matches with the support of our fans. I believe it will be the same in this match."
