The Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF) has condemned the abusive chants by Israeli fans directed at head coach Ergin Ataman during the EuroLeague Round 24 match between Maccabi Rapyd and Panathinaikos, and has requested an investigation into the incident.

In a statement released on the TBF's website, it was emphasized that tolerance should be at the forefront of sports.

AN ATTACK CONTRARY TO THE SPIRIT OF SPORTS

The statement read, "As the Turkish Basketball Federation, we believe in the unifying power of basketball; we emphasize that we are always the strongest supporters of our athletes, coaches, and administrators who successfully represent our country all over the world," adding that the ugly chants "do not align with the universal values of sports."

The TBF statement further noted that they expect the EuroLeague management to meticulously investigate this incident and immediately initiate the necessary disciplinary processes to ensure that similar events do not occur again.
