TFF admits referee errors but kicks the ball into touch!
A notable assessment has come from the Turkish Football Federation regarding the refereeing decisions that have sparked controversy in the Super Lig in recent weeks. TFF Vice President Mecnun Otyakmaz stated that they are aware of the errors that have occurred over the past two weeks and announced that a training meeting will be held with the referees during the week.
While the refereeing decisions that have come to the fore in the Trendyol Super Lig in recent weeks are being intensely debated in the football community, a statement regarding the issue has come from the Turkish Football Federation front.
TFF Vice President Mecnun Otyakmaz stated that the errors experienced in the last two weeks of the league have also been observed by the federation. Otyakmaz announced that a training meeting will be held during the week to evaluate the performance of the referees.
TRAINING MEETING TO BE HELD WITH REFEREES
Speaking to HT Spor, Otyakmaz emphasized that regular meetings are held for the development of referees and that the upcoming meeting is a routine process.
It was stated that the decisions that have caused controversy in recent weeks will also be evaluated at the meeting, where the performance of the referees will be put on the table.
“WE ADMIT THAT THE REFEREES ARE MAKING MISTAKES”
Expressing that behaviors on the pitch also create pressure on the referees, Otyakmaz said that players should also assist the referees. Otyakmaz used the following expressions in his statement:
“We also see that the referees have been making mistakes for two weeks. We admit this. But thank goodness the players, managers, fans, and the press are being so helpful to them… A player who hasn't been hit throws himself to the ground as if he has been hit. My request to everyone is, let's support them, let's help them. We will meet with the referees during the week for training. This is not an extraordinary situation; it is a routine meeting.”
