TFF announces: The venue and date for the Super Cup have been set
The Turkish Football Federation has announced its decision regarding the Super Cup final to be played between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe. The match will be played on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at 21:30 at the Şanlıurfa 11 Nisan Stadium.
The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has made its decision regarding the Super Cup final to be played between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe.
In the statement made by the TFF, it was stated that "The 2023 Turkcell Super Cup match will be played between the 2022-2023 Super Lig Champion Galatasaray A.Ş. and the 2022-2023 Ziraat Turkish Cup Champion Fenerbahçe A.Ş., as previously announced on February 21, 2024, on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at 21:30 at the Şanlıurfa 11 Nisan Stadium."
DETAILS OF THE DECISION PROCESS
According to the report by Sercan Hamzaoğlu from Haber Global; April 7 was a date determined with the approval of both clubs, but despite this, the TFF Board of Directors conducted a re-evaluation upon Fenerbahçe's application.
No alternative date could be found, taking into account the preparations for the European Football Championship within the busy schedule.
Meanwhile, as per procedure, the opinion of the other contender for the cup, Galatasaray, was also sought. Galatasaray clearly stated in writing that it did not prefer a date other than April 7. Naturally, the fact that one of the parties did not want a date change was also a deciding factor. However, the main factor in the decision was the lack of an alternative date in the very busy schedule.
