The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) Istanbul Provincial Representation has announced that all amateur football matches scheduled to be played this weekend have been postponed to a later date due to adverse weather conditions expected in the city.
The decision covers the weekend fixtures of leagues that have already begun, as well as league matches scheduled to start this week. The new calendar for the postponed matches is expected to be announced at a later time.
The Provincial Representation stated that there have been no changes to the matches included in the weekday program.
It was noted that the postponement decision applies only to local amateur leagues. Matches in the Süper Lig and other professional leagues will be played according to the current schedule.
Heavy rainfall that affected Istanbul on October 14-15 caused flooding in the city. While it was stated that the recorded amount of rainfall was one of the highest levels in the last 84 years, it was announced that a total of five people lost their lives in the flood disaster and the subsequent operations.
