TFF makes a new statement regarding the election date!

The Turkish Football Federation has made a statement regarding the upcoming presidential elections.

In the statement made by the federation, it was stated that the elective general assembly will be held on July 18, as previously announced.

The statement from the TFF is as follows:

The Board of Directors of the Turkish Football Federation has decided that the TFF Financial General Assembly, which will be held on July 18, will be held as an Elective General Assembly, despite there being 3 years left until the end of its term, and has announced this decision to the public.

During this process, the Super Lig and 1st League broadcasting tender has been completed in a way that will bring significant revenue to our clubs, and regulations such as spending limits and the foreign player rule have been redetermined in line with the interests of the clubs. In the current situation, in addition to the Turkish Football Federation Board of Directors, all preparations regarding the new season have been fully implemented in a way that will not disrupt the current operation, before the Elective General Assembly to be held on July 18, three years before the end of the terms of the boards.

OUR INDISPENSABLE NATIONAL TEAM

Despite this, we are watching with astonishment the persistent efforts of some club managers, who ignore even the possibility of disrupting the preparations of our A National Team, which has earned the right to participate in the European Football Championship by finishing the qualifying group as leader for the first time in its history, to hold an Elective General Assembly exactly on the dates when the European Football Championship will begin.

Contrary to an understanding that knows it is a duty to meet on a common ground when the crescent-star jersey is in question, regardless of how different the colors one is devoted to may be, we are witnessing with dismay that some names known to the public put their personal ambitions and interests even above national interests. As part of the European Football Championship preparations, our A National Team will play special matches away against Italy on June 4 and Poland on June 10, and will face Georgia on June 18, Portugal on June 22, and Czechia on June 26 in the European Football Championship. The European Football Championship will also end on July 14. The decision to hold the Elective General Assembly on July 18 was taken by considering the national team's busy match schedule. Demanding that a TFF congress be held for the sake of personal interests during these dates when a great nation will be of one heart is nothing more than engaging in absurdity.

Those who want to hold an election on the dates when the tournament begins should not forget that; as the Turkish Football Federation, our primary priority is the crescent-star jersey under all circumstances. It is our primary responsibility to prevent any effort that will lower the morale of our players and technical staff at the cost of leaving our national team, which 85 million will watch with pride, alone in Germany. As the TFF management, we will spend all our time and energy for the success of the Turkish National Football Team and we will not fall into the mistakes that some of our club managers have fallen into. The insistence on holding the election simultaneously with the European Football Championship, instead of being with our players from the first whistle to be blown in Germany, is, to put it mildly, being distant from the values of this country. We leave this futile effort, which is far from our national values, to the appreciation of the great Turkish Nation.

JULY 18 FOR A DEMOCRATIC ELECTION

It should not be forgotten that; it is a necessity to provide sufficient time for all candidates to prepare for the election in order to establish a fair, transparent, and democratic election environment. Otherwise, the efforts of the candidates who will compete in a rushed election environment to represent the interests of Turkish football will be disrupted. Our entire goal is to create a fair and competitive ground to ensure the necessary conditions for a democratic election in the TFF. This attitude of a small number of club managers who are trying to rush the election process has caused concern among all our clubs, and this approach has been seen as an effort to spread the failures of those who feed on chaos to Turkish football rather than an effort to improve Turkish football.

The only reason we decided to hold an election and limit our term of office with an election, even in an environment where our term of office continues for 3 more years, is to provide the candidates who believe that they will represent the long-term interests of the Turkish Football family more accurately than us with the opportunity to show this will.

We would like to state clearly that; the President and Board of Directors of the Turkish Football Federation have won the appreciation and favor of the vast majority of the TFF General Assembly Members before the elective general assembly to be held on July 18. We thank the Great Turkish Football Family, who kept the path of dialogue open throughout this process, did not sign for those who insistently worked for the elective general assembly to be held on July 18 to be held during the European Championship, and showed us favor. The President and Board of Directors of the Turkish Football Federation, which prioritizes the appreciation of the Turkish Football Family, not the minority that expects privilege rather than justice, and which took the decision for an elective congress 3 years before the completion of its term, will continue its work without interruption.

THE TARGET IS NOT THE TFF PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS

We believe that the target of persistently trying to make the Turkish Football Federation, which has completed its preparations on all critical issues such as the broadcasting tender, spending limits, and foreign player rule in line with the demands of the Union of Clubs Foundation and the interests of our clubs before the new season, which has taken the decision for an elective general assembly to be held on July 18, 2024, 3 years before the completion of its term so that candidates can prepare healthily, and which is fully concentrated on our A National Football Team, hold a hasty election during the European Football Championship is not TFF President Mehmet Büyükekşi and the Board of Directors. What is the real goal and purpose of the minority who insistently wants a hasty election at a time when all of Turkey will be concentrated on the European Football Championship together with our A National Football Team?

EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL ASSEMBLY CAN BE HELD AFTER 60 DAYS

In the Turkish Football Federation, which is an autonomous institution with 324 delegates who have the right to vote in the Elective General Assembly, in order for an extraordinary congress call to be made as per the statute, 130 delegates, corresponding to 40 percent of the total number of delegates, must make a call to the TFF with a notarized, official signature. In this case, the authority to take an extraordinary congress decision lies with the TFF Board of Directors. If the TFF Board of Directors takes an extraordinary congress decision, the extraordinary congress gathers 30 days after the decision. In order for an election decision to be taken at the gathered congress, the approval of 163 delegates, which is 1 more than 50 percent of the number of delegates, is required. If 163 delegates approve the proposal to hold an elective extraordinary general assembly, then, as per the autonomous TFF statute, it can be decided to convene an elective extraordinary general assembly only 30 days later.

In summary, even if the minority, which has not been able to collect enough signatures for an extraordinary congress decision for more than a month, manages to collect enough signatures, 60 days must pass for an elective extraordinary general assembly.

A MINORITY CANNOT DOMINATE THE MAJORITY

The efforts of this minority, which sends threatening messages to the TFF President and Board Members, their relatives, TFF General Assembly Members, and club sponsors to bring forward the date announced for the congress, and which adopts a combative attitude that will harm social peace, to establish dominance over the majority will never be allowed. The malicious actions and initiatives of those who try to harm the environment of dialogue and cooperation that we have tried to make dominant within the football community throughout our term will once again be inconclusive.

As the TFF Board of Directors, which continues its work to win the future, not the day, and which lays the foundations of the National Team that will be the European Champion in the European Football Championship, which we have earned the right to host in 2032, we respectfully announce once again to the Turkish Football Public that we are at our post until July 18, 2024.
