TFF takes action regarding referees: Attended 7 court cases in one day
Threats and insults directed at referees by citizens on social media are being taken to court. The figures that emerged at the request of the TFF have drawn attention. It is alleged that FIFA-badged referee Atilla Karaoğlan attended seven separate hearings in a single day.
Claims that referees are taking the threats and insults directed at them on social media to court, which are frequently voiced, have also come onto the TFF's agenda.
TFF REQUESTED A REPORT FROM REFEREES
According to a report by Türkiye Gazetesi, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has requested information from referees regarding the lawsuits they have filed. With this step taken by the TFF, it has emerged that some referees have filed between three and four thousand lawsuits. The vast majority of these cases consist of posts containing insults and threats made via social media.
STRIKING TABLE FROM FIFA-BADGED REFEREE
The most striking among the lawsuits filed by referees belongs to FIFA-badged referee Atilla Karaoğlan. It has been alleged that Karaoğlan attended seven separate hearings in just one day. According to the claims, seven separate cases involving Karaoğlan were heard simultaneously on April 10 at the Sakarya 2nd, 7th, and 9th Criminal Courts of First Instance.
Another detail that draws attention in the case lists is the person mentioned in one of the hearings. According to the published images, a person bearing the same name as motorcycle racer Kenan Sofuoğlu was also seen to be present in court on the day Atilla Karaoğlan's hearings were held.
LEGAL PROCESSES CONTINUE
While there is curiosity about how these cases will conclude, it is also among the claims that the TFF may be preparing the ground for new regulations by collecting such data regarding referees.
