The first stage of the Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye has concluded!
The first stage of the 59th Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye, held this year in Antalya, has been completed. Dutch athlete Fabio Jakobsen won the first stage of the tour, which will conclude in Istanbul.
Starting inAntalya and extending toIstanbul, the 59th Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye has begun.
In an organization involving 25 teams and 175 cyclists from 14 countries, with a staff of approximately 2,000 people, the athletes will be pedaling for 8 days. Competitors have begun to sweat it out in a fierce race to finish first on the 1,188-kilometer course.
Athletes, including professional cyclist Mark Cavendish,who has 163 career victories and is also known as the 'Hero of Sprints,' gathered at the starting point early in the morning. The 59th Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye, which drew great interest from many citizens, started at 10:30 AM from Düdenpark in Lara.
The athletes followed a route through Belek, Serik, Döşemealtı, and Aksu,entering the city center to complete the 138 kilometers in nearly 3 hours. Fabio Jakobsen crossed the finish line in 2 hours, 56 minutes, and 14 seconds to take first place, while Sasha Weemaes finished second and Simon Dehairs third. The second stage of the 59th Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye, the 190.6-kilometer Kemer-Kaş (Kalkan) stage, will be held tomorrow (Monday).
