National motorcycle racer Toprak Razgatlıoğlu will not be on the track for the remainder of the season due to a shoulder injury sustained following a crash at the Indonesian Grand Prix.
Red Bull athlete Razgatlıoğlu's team, Prima Pramac Yamaha, announced that following additional check-ups in Milan, the national athlete will undergo surgery on Monday, October 26. The statement noted that the damage caused by the crash in Mandalika requires surgical intervention for the best possible recovery process.
In the team's statement, it was expressed that Razgatlıoğlu would miss the remainder of the season, adding, "It is planned for Yamaha test rider Augusto Fernandez to take the athlete's place in the upcoming races."
In his assessment regarding his injury, Toprak Razgatlıoğlu said that medical checks performed after the crash in Mandalika revealed that the shoulder injury was more serious than initially thought.
Ultimately, I will undergo surgery in the coming days to maximize my chances of a full recovery and returning at 100 percent performance. This was not an easy decision, but after consulting with doctors and those closest to me, we are convinced that this is the right step for my future.
Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, the first Turkish motorcycle racer in MotoGP history, currently sits in 21st place in the general classification with 18 points collected over 17 stages, ahead of the final 5 races of the season.
