Trabzonspor President Ertuğrul Doğan lashes out at claims of state support in Salah transfer
Trabzonspor President Ertuğrul Doğan stated that approximately 550 million liras worth of season tickets were sold in 3 days following the Salah transfer; he denied the allegations.
Trabzonspor President Ertuğrul Doğan made notable statements regarding the burgundy-blue club's transfer of Mohamed Salah. Speaking on an HT Spor broadcast, Doğan provided information on the economic implications of the transfer, the allegations that have surfaced on social media, and the expected reinforcements for the forward line.
Denying the claims that a lien had been placed on Salah's salary, Doğan stated that they have initiated legal proceedings against those who reported this news. Doğan said, “Technically, such a thing is not even possible. There is no such issue. We have initiated the necessary judicial processes against those responsible.”

Speaking about the cost of the transfer, Doğan said that the fan support had met their expectations. The Trabzonspor President stated that according to the figures he received in the morning, approximately 550 million liras worth of season tickets had been sold in 3 days, noting that jersey sales were not included in this calculation. Doğan said, “More than half of the annual cost of the transfer has been covered so far.”
Doğan also categorically denied the allegations that Trabzonspor received financial support from state institutions. Stating, “There is not a single 1 TL of money we have received like that,” Doğan described such rhetoric as a “huge, immoral lie.”
Describing how Salah was impressed by the fans' interest during the signing ceremony, Doğan said the player was astonished by the atmosphere. Doğan shared that Salah told him, “I am glad you brought me in front of these people,” and argued that the city of Trabzon had achieved major global promotion.
Stating that reports regarding the house where Salah will stay in Trabzon do not reflect the truth, Doğan indicated that the player will stay in the house where former footballer Nwakaeme resided. Regarding the forward transfer, Doğan said that work is ongoing and gave the message, “We are moving quickly. If our fans finish the season tickets, we will move even faster.”
