Transfer blow to Beşiktaş from Olympique Lyonnais
Olympique Lyonnais has added Nemanja Matic from Rennes to its squad
Olympique Lyonnais, a team in France's top football league (Ligue 1), has announced the signing of Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic. The club signed a contract with Matic, who was transferred from Rennes, until June 2026 for a transfer fee of 2.6 million euros.
It had previously been claimed that the Beşiktaş management had invited the player's agent to Istanbul following news from the French side.
The 35-year-old footballer had transferred to Rennes at the beginning of the season after previously playing for major clubs such as Chelsea, Benfica, Manchester United, and Roma. Matic, who was also alleged to be of interest to Beşiktaş, has played 48 times for the Serbian National Team and appeared in 19 matches for Rennes.
