Tribunal alarm before Lyon-Fenerbahçe match: French club cancels hundreds of tickets

Ahead of the UEFA Champions League play-off second leg match between Fenerbahçe and Olympique Lyonnais, stadium security and ticket controls have come to the fore. It has been stated that the French club has increased inspections regarding fan seating arrangements before the match at Groupama Stadium.

According to a report by the French press outlet Le Progres, the Lyon management has re-examined tickets in order to prevent Fenerbahçe fans from forming a concentration in sections reserved for home fans and to prevent illegal ticket sales.

In this context, it was reported that at least 437 tickets belonging to Fenerbahçe fans who were identified as having purchased tickets from Lyon stands have been cancelled. It was stated that the club has tightened controls to ensure the stadium is filled with Lyon fans.

The first match between the two teams ended in a 1-1 draw. The second leg of the tie will be played on Wednesday, August 26, at 22:00 Turkish time.

The report also stated that the Lyon-Fenerbahçe match is classified as a level 4 out of 5 "high-risk match" in terms of security. For this reason, additional measures are expected to be implemented around the stadium and at the stadium entrances on match day.
